Bats
Information about Bats
They are Nocturnal Animals. A single bat can eat up to 1,200 tiny insects in an hour. They use "Echolocation" to navigate around objects in the dark of night. They usually have one litter a year consisting of 1-2 babies. The birthing months are typically in the late spring.
Nuisance Concerns:
Bats only need a half inch or less of space to enter a house or building. Guano (bat droppings) is a fertile ground for fungal diseases called "Histoplasmosis" and can be transfered to humans who breathe in the fungal spores
Bat Bugs (commonly confused with Bed Bugs) are usually found along with a colony. Bats are known carriers of rabies and other diseases.
Histoplasmosis - an infectious disease of the reticuloendothelial system, caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum and characterized by fever, anemia, and emaciation. - dictionary.com
Removal:
Only Bats creating a nuisance in dwellings can be legally killed. APCS will install "ONE WAY" bat doors so that they can get out but not be able to get back in. Within a week, APCS will pul traps and seal the entry ways - more seal up work may be needed. Guano clean up services are offered.
