Honey Bees

Information about Honey Bees

Information:

Honeybee colonies usually have one fertile "Queen Bee" that produces eggs from spring to fall. Worker Bees usually feed on nectar and pollen. Bees are usually most actvie during the day, and can be active year round depending on location and region.

Nuisance Concerns:

Honeybees biggest concerns are that when bothered they do tend to "sting" humans. As well as if the bees are exterminated, the honey and hive will melt and seep anywhere it can go if the hive is not removed.

honey and hive will melt and seep anywhere if can go...

Removal:

APCS recommends not poisoning the bees due to the honey and hive melting, they however will instigate a live removal where they vacuum up the bees and remove the hive. Within a few days, APCS comes back and seals the entry. Another option is to treat and remove the bees and within a few days, APCS will come back and remove the hive.

Seasonal Pests Tips

If you have a squirrel, raccoon or any other animal living in your attic APCS recommends trapping and removing the animals. Once there is not any more activity APCS recommends sealing off any other possible entry points. The technician will be able to advise you of any preventative repairs.

If you have mice. APCS recommends treating until the activity has decreased to a minimal amount. Once activity is minimal APCS recommends sealing off any possible entry points. The technician will be able to advise you of any preventive seal-up.
